MILIĆ: THEY DID EVERYTHING TO PREVENT MY ARRIVAL IN KOSOVO, BUT GIVING UP WAS NOT AN OPTION

PRIZREN, JULY 26 /SRNA/ – Brčko District Mayor Siniša Milić told SRNA that members of the so-called Kosovo Police detained him for more than six hours at the Merdare and Jarinje administrative crossing points, where he was subjected to a thorough search before being allowed to enter Kosovo and Metohija.

According to Milić, the Priština authorities did everything they could to prevent his entry into Kosovo and Metohija, but despite that, he attended the patron saint's day celebration of the Monastery of the Holy Archangels near Prizren. "At Merdare, I was detained over alleged documentation issues, and then again at Jarinje, but giving up was not an option. We did not give them the satisfaction of turning back because of the harassment," Milić said. He emphasized that the secular and spiritual identity of a people cannot be erased, and that the presence of a large number of worshippers in the courtyard of the Monastery of the Holy Archangels sent the message that Kosovo and Metohija are defended through love, faith, dignity, and perseverance. Milena Parlić, Assistant Director of Serbia's parliamentary Office for Kosovo and Metohija, thanked Milić for attending, stressing that his support is of particular importance for preserving the culture and spiritual identity of the Serb people. The Divine Hierarchical Liturgy at the Monastery of the Holy Archangels was served by His Eminence Metropolitan Teodosije of Raška and Prizren, who called on the faithful to remain peaceful and dignified, given the increased presence of members of the so-called Kosovo Police around the monastery complex. Following the liturgy, Milić and Parlić joined Metropolitan Teodosije and Abbot Mihailo in the traditional breaking of the slava bread.
