CHECK ALLEGATIONS OF INAPPROPRIATE PRIVILEGES FOR ELFETA VESELI

BANJA LUKA, JULY 28 /SRNA/ - DNS leader Nenad Nešić called on the ministers of justice in the Council of Ministers and the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ to verify whether Elfeta Veseli, who brutally killed the boy Slobodan Stojanović from Donja Kamenica, is getting privileges in Tuzla Prison and protection from certain guards, as well as whether she is freely walking around Ilidža while on leave.

How is it possible, he asked, that a person who was on the run for 10 years and was later convicted of the brutal murder of a child is allowed to freely walk around Ilidža every month, in the immediate vicinity of the boy's family's home? He questioned how Veseli could be allowed to stay for five to seven days at an address that is not her place of residence. "I call on the Federal Minister of Justice, as well as the Minister of Justice of BiH, to put an end to this disgrace and the desecration of victims and the glorification of a criminal... How would his sister feel if she encountered the monster woman in the street?" Nešić asked. He considers it unacceptable that Veseli is being granted the privilege of annual leave, while Slobodan Stojanović was deprived of his childhood, growing up, and all the joys of life. Nešić also said that employees of Tuzla Prison had informed him that Veseli enjoys the protection of certain guards and officers, who grant her privileges and tolerate the mistreatment of Serbs and Croats in the prison, according to a statement issued by the DNS. He pointed out that a job position in horticulture had been created for her so that she would be entitled to annual leave. "Other female inmates who were in that prison, simply because of their nationality, were targets of her harassment and abuse, and when they reported it, they would end up in solitary confinement because Veseli enjoys the protection of certain guards and officers," Nešić warned. He added that, because of Veseli, even Orthodox Christmas was not allowed to be marked at Tuzla Prison, and that she had told other inmates that she would go to war again if it happened. He asked whether such behaviour was deserving of out-of-prison privileges. Twelve-year-old Slobodan was killed in Kamenica near Zvornik when he returned to get his dog after fleeing the village with his parents. Slobodan’s body was found on June 13, 1993, in a mass grave on Ždrijepci Hill near Jošanica. According to the findings of pathologist Zoran Stanković, the child was brutally killed; his abdomen had been cut open in the shape of a cross, and he had visible head injuries. For the brutal murder of the boy, Elfeta Veseli was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the first-instance proceedings; however, in a second-instance verdict delivered in December 2019, the Appellate Chamber of the Court of BiH increased the sentence to 13 years.
