ŠPIRIĆ: HATRED IN BiH'S PUBLIC SPHERE RULES OUT INTERNAL AGREEMENT ON FUTURE
SARAJEVO, AUGUST 31 /SRNA/ - Nikola Špirić, Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, said he finds the amount of hatred spreading in the public sphere in BiH alarming, leaving little prospect for any kind of internal agreement in the future.
"What chance do we have if both the living and the dead are being used here for political score-settling, insults, and persecution of every kind? The impression is that the peoples of BiH have never been further apart, and points of convergence are becoming increasingly difficult to discern," Špirić told SRNA. He added that it would be good for those who use the language of hatred to consider how beneficial it is, both for themselves and for the overall environment. He said that political struggle is one thing, while insults and retaliation over someone's personal views are something entirely different. "If political actors from the Federation of BiH base their programmes on who hates the Serbs and Republika Srpska more, then I do not know what kind of future we can talk about," Špirić concluded.
