VULIĆ: SIJEKOVAC - BEST EXAMPLE OF WHO EXECUTIONER WAS AND WHO VICTIM WAS
SIJEKOVAC, MARCH 26 /SRNA/ - The envoy of the Republika Srpska President Sanja Vulić said today that Sijekovac near Brod is a paradigm of everything that happened in BiH in the 1990s and the best example of who the executioner was and who the victim was.
Vulić emphasized that it is the duty of the Serbian people to never forget what happened to them in the past war in this area. "Faith teaches us to forgive, but Serbian pride and character obligate us to never forget this crime and to teach future generations how the Serbian people suffered greatly," Vulić told reporters in Sijekovac, where she attended the commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of the crime committed against Serbian civilians in that village. Vulić emphasized that the unjust and unconstitutional Court of BiH shows no empathy for Serbian war victims, which was especially evident in the case of the crime in Sijekovac, as only one person was sentenced to 10 years in prison for this crime. She says that this only confirms that there was a plan to exterminate Serbs as a people from these areas, as this is how the judiciary of BiH treats Serbian victims. "I want to send them a message that the Serbian people have existed for centuries and will continue to exist in their ancestral homes!" emphasized Vulić. She suggested that Serbs should teach younger generations that Serbian honor and pride come above anything else. In the first war crime committed in the territory of BiH, nine Serbs were killed in one hour, most of them members of the Milošević and Zečević families. Members of the regular Croatian Army, together with paramilitary Croatian-Muslim units from BiH and Croatia, killed nine Serbian civilians in Sijekovac on March 26, 1992, and killed another 37 Serbs in the following days. A total of 46 Serbian civilians were killed in Sijekovac in 1992, according to documents from the Brod Veterans’ Organization. The occupation by Croatian forces ended on October 7, 1992, when General Slavko Lisica liberated the Brod municipality in a carefully planned military operation. The commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of the suffering of Serbian civilians in Sijekovac was organized by the Republika Srpska Government’s Committee for Nurturing the Tradition of Liberation Wars.
