KOZARSKA DUBICA, APRIL 22 /SRNA/ - A two-day international scientific conference "NDH and the Jasenovac concentration camp in the light of modern research" was opened today in Kozarska Dubica, which brought together 20 participants from all over the world, including the Israeli historian Gideon Greif.

Tuleković pointed out that the gathering was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the breakthrough of the Jasenovac prison inmates, and stated that having the experts from all over the world gathered on this occasion in order to scientifically document and process all newly arrived archived documents, oral testimonies, photographs and objects is extremely important "In this way, we will put together a kind of mosaic of the suffering, first of all, of the civilians of Potkozarje, but also of the broader territory where the NDH spread," she said, adding that this will contribute to ensuring that the victims of Ustasha crimes are never forgotten. She notes that exchanging publications and knowledge during the conference and expending the cooperation to different parts of the world is significant- The conference topics are new contributions to the research of the Ustasha crime of genocide in the NDH and the causes and consequences of the Ustasha ideology, then the Holocaust and the genocide of the Roma or Porajmos, as well as the studies on war and genocide during the Second World War. Three sessions will take place on the first day. According to the programme, professor Gideon Greif will hold a lecture "Comparative analysis of the two extermination camps Jasenovac and Auschwitz" at 12.15 in the second session.
