CVIJANOVIĆ: MAY THE LIGHT OF HANUKKAH CANDLES BRING WARMTH AND ENCOURAGEMENT FOR FUTURE
SARAJEVO, DECEMBER 14 /SRNA/ – The Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, extended her congratulations on the occasion of Hanukkah to all Jews and Jewish communities in Republika Srpska and BiH, wishing that the holiday serve as a reminder of the enduring values of freedom, hope, and togetherness.
“On the occasion of the great Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, I extend my sincere and heartfelt congratulations. I wish that this traditional festival of light, faith, and perseverance remind us all of the lasting values of freedom, hope, and unity, and that the light of the Hanukkah candles bring warmth and encouragement for the future into your homes,” Cvijanović stated. With sincere respect and best wishes, Cvijanović wished everyone a joyful Hanukkah, the Presidency of BiH announced. The Jewish Festival of Lights, Hanukkah, or Hag HaUrim, a holiday of freedom and light, begins at sunset. The celebration lasts eight days, during which Jewish families light an eight-branched menorah with eight main candles and one auxiliary candle. Hanukkah is celebrated in remembrance of the three-year liberation war and the liberation of Jerusalem in 165 BCE.
