BOOK ON USTASHA CRIMES TO BE PRESENTED IN JERUSALEM TOMORROW
BELGRADE, APRIL 29 /SRNA/ – The book on Ustasha crimes against Serbs, Jews, and Roma, "Ustasha Atrocities: A Collection of Documents 1941–1942," published by the Archive of Vojvodina, will be presented tomorrow in Jerusalem, the Archive's director Nebojša Kuzmanović told SRNA.
He stated that around fifty of the most prominent Israeli historians specializing in Holocaust studies will attend the promotion at the Menachem Begin Heritage Centre. In addition to Kuzmanović, speakers at the event will include Efraim Zuroff, director of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, Jewish historian Kiril Feferman from Ariel University. Serbian historian Milan Koljanin, His Grace Bishop Jovan of Pakrac-Slavonia, and Serbia's honorary consul in Israel Aleksandar Nikolić. The Archive of Vojvodina published "Ustasha Atrocities" several years ago in Serbian, and its English-language edition will be presented in Jerusalem. Kuzmanović noted that the book consists of authentic German records and photographs from 1941 and 1942, compiled by historian Milan Koljanin, and contains 165 documents and 62 photographs. "The idea is to familiarize the global public with these documents of German military intelligence and police authorities from World War II, which testify to Ustasha crimes against Serbs, Jews, and Roma," Kuzmanović said. Some of these documents were also presented at the exhibition "Jasenovac, Remembrance and Warning" in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The book "Ustasha Atrocities: A Collection of Documents 1941–1942" was compiled by Milan Koljanin through research of the Slavko Odić collection, which is preserved in the Archive of Vojvodina. Slavko Odić worked as a senior official in the Military Security Administration and had access to German archival collections, including the archive of the German commander of the Security Service in occupied Serbia.
