DARKO MLADIĆ HAS NO NEW INFORMATION ABOUT GENERAL MLADIĆ'S HEALTH CONDITION
BELGRADE, APRIL 30 /SRNA/ - Darko Mladić, the son of General Ratko Mladić, told SRNA that he has had no information for days about his father’s health condition, who is in the detention hospital in The Hague, and that he plans to travel to The Hague as early as next week to visit him.
Darko Mladić says that he last spoke with his father on Monday, April 27, and that there is still no new information about his health or about a possible release for medical treatment in Serbia. "Unfortunately, I have nothing new. I sent an email to the Mechanism to see what is going on, but I still have not received any reply, and at this moment I have no information at all," Darko said. He said that sometimes they respond to him by email, while at other times he can get through immediately by phone, adding that he will probably travel to The Hague again next week. Graciela Gatti Santana, President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, ordered that, no later than tomorrow, a report be prepared containing the opinion of independent experts assessing General Ratko Mladić's current health condition, including relevant diagnoses, prognosis, and treatment options. The legal team of General Ratko Mladić filed a request on Thursday, April 23, seeking his conditional release on humanitarian grounds, given his increasingly poor health condition. General Mladić suffered a stroke on April 10, and his serious condition has further deteriorated, as he is facing severe neurological, cardiovascular, and kidney-related problems. General Mladić has been held in the detention hospital in The Hague since 2024, where he has been receiving palliative care due to his serious health condition. The Mechanism has repeatedly rejected requests for his provisional release for medical treatment in Serbia.
