MAJKIĆ: INITIATIVE TO ESTABLISH MILITARY TRAINING GROUND - MESSAGE THAT SERBS ARE NOT WELCOME

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, MAY 1 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Senator Dušanka Majkić believes that the initiative to establish a military training ground in the municipality of Glamoč sends a message to Serbs that they are not welcome in the FBiH and that they should leave.

She states she is certain the local Serb population opposes the efforts of the BiH Armed Forces to establish a new training ground in Glamoč, which would be used for testing new weapons produced in the FBiH, but that they cannot resolve this issue on their own. “The Ministry of Defence within the Council of Ministers and the Armed Forces of BiH did not find one training ground for the destruction of explosive ordnance enough, so they decided to build another one,” Majkić, a former member of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly who dealt with the issue of the military training ground in Glamoč, told SRNA. According to her, it was not enough that the destruction of weapons is already damaging residential buildings in Glamoč and polluting the air, soil, and water, so now they want to build a new training ground that will increase the suffering of the local population. Earlier, the Office of the Serb BiH Presidency member announced that Željka Cvijanović will not allow the establishment of a military training ground on the territory of the municipality as proposed by the Ministry of Defence within the Council of Ministers, and that decisions in the field of defence within the Presidency of BiH are made by consensus of all its members.
