BANJA LUKA, JULY 29 /SRNA/ - President Milorad Dodik welcomed the initiative by members of the US Congress to declare February as Serbian-American Heritage Month.

Dodik emphasized that Srpska supports continuous work on strengthening a partnership that has been proven by history and is needed for the future. "This is a task to which Republika Srpska has made an immeasurable contribution," Dodik posted on X. He stated that historical allied relations, confirmed during the most difficult times for the entire world in the 20th century, remain the key to the stability of the Balkans and a space for understanding, cooperation, and peace. Dodik noted that, despite all challenges and changes, shared values, trust, and mutual respect make this relationship a lasting pillar of regional security and development. "Therefore, every step toward deeper political dialogue, economic connection, and cultural rapprochement is welcome because it is the path of responsible politics and a guarantee of a more peaceful future for all our peoples," Dodik said. Five members of the US Congress submitted a resolution to the House of Representatives proposing that February be declared Serbian-American Heritage Month, stating that it is important to recognize and celebrate the achievements, heritage, and cultural contributions of Serbian Americans and their role in strengthening the United States. The proposed Serbian-American Heritage Month would present an opportunity to annually organize educational, cultural, and public programs across the US dedicated to the history, achievements, and heritage of the Serbian-American community.
